Redeem a monocles Account Voucher#

If you bought a prepaid voucher or got one as a gift.


Congratulations!#

Either you chose to buy this Voucher or got it gifted by someone else.

  • If you want to redeem it, you'll need to either create a monocles account or if you already have one, login to redeem it for said account.

How to redeem:#

  1. Login to your monocles account.
    • If you don't have a monocles account, please create a new one beforehand.
  2. Go to the Account Status page by opening account.monocles.eu.
  3. Scroll down to "Redeem Voucher"
  4. Enter the Voucher Code into the field labeled "Voucher Code:" next to it.
  5. Click on send.
  6. The Account Status Page will update shortly and reflect the added Subscription.

Alternative Options#

XMPP Bot#
  1. Login with your monocles chat account on any XMPP client.
  2. Add account@monocles.chat to your contacts for that account.
  3. Send a message from your monocles chat XMPP account to account@monocles.chat with the contents REDEEM [Voucher-Code].
    • Replace [Voucher-Code] with your Voucher Code.
  4. If successful, the Bot will reply with Voucher redeemed..
  5. To check the current Subscription and Expiry Date, simply send a message with the contents STATUS, and the bit will reply with the Subscription and it's expiry date. I.e. Monocles Full - paid until 2038-01-19.
eMail Bot#
  1. Login with your monocles mail account on any eMail client.
  2. Add account@monocles.eu to your contacts for that account.
  3. Send a message from your monocles mail account to account@monocles.chat with the contents REDEEM [Voucher-Code].
    • Replace [Voucher-Code] with your Voucher Code.
  4. If successful, the Bot will reply with Voucher redeemed..
  5. To check the current Subscription and Expiry Date, simply send a message with the contents STATUS, and the bit will reply with the Subscription and it's expiry date. I.e. Monocles Full - paid until 2038-01-19.

Known issues and Limitations#

You cannot redeem a voucher onto an account without being logged in.#

This is intentional as to prevent people from redeeming codes without consent or wasting them on deactivated accounts!

  • If you want to gift someone an extension to their account, we recommend to eMail them the voucher to their monocles Account eMail instead with a link to this documentation attached.
Account Bots do not support PGP/MIME nor OMEMO.#

This is for technical reasons as of now.

  • We do recommend to just delete the conversation / messages on your end, as the bots will delete theirs within 24 hours.
